How to Care for Your Quartz Countertops

Quartz countertops are very durable. Quartz is an engineered stone made from natural quartz combined with resins and other materials, resulting in a non-porous and low-maintenance alternative to natural stone. Quartz is incredibly versatile and is a great choice for home surfaces because it is easy to clean.

Proper care is key to maintaining the look of your quartz countertops. Our team has put together an easy-to-follow guide to help protect your surfaces and keep them looking their best over time, especially in high-use areas like kitchen countertops or bathroom countertops.

Do

  • Thoroughly rinse off soap or mild detergent with water after cleaning.

  • For daily cleaning, our recommendations are Bar Keepers Friend and Soft Scrub Liquid Gel.

  • Use a soft towel or paper towel to clean the surface.

  • Blot up spills immediately.

  • Always use a cutting board to protect the surface.

  • Use hot pads or trivets.

Don’t

  • Use abrasive cleaners or cleaning pads, as they can dull the surface’s shine.

  • Expose the surface to chemicals outside the pH range of 5-8.

  • Seal your quartz.

  • Expose quartz surfaces to prolonged direct sunlight, as quartz is not UV resistant.

Please note that honed, textured or brushed finishes require more frequent cleaning than polished finishes. Metal marks, fingerprints and other signs of daily life are more prevalent on honed finishes. Most of these marks can be easily removed by using the cleaning procedures listed above.

Any stone material can potentially be damaged by sudden or rapid temperature changes, especially near the edges. Use of hot pads and trivets is always recommended. We do not advise putting hot cookware directly on custom countertops other than porcelain.

Quality surfaces deserve thoughtful care. If you have questions about maintaining your quartz countertops or selecting the right products, our team is here to guide you.
